About Me

Every day I set out as though I’m that excited five year old on my way to Jessica Jones’s birthday party. Unfortunately, something terrible happened at Jessica Jones’s birthday party. Stories to lead you along strange ways …. I have travelled widely. My favourite places are Banjul, New York and Sicily. I love Devon and Cornwall, especially Tavistock, Padstow, Zennor and St Ives. I divide my time between London and the south west where I live with my partner.

I eat Thai food, play guitar, drink whisky, red wine and Wadworth’s 6X. I’m learning Italian. I paint and play songs in pubs with friends. I’ve written songs and mixed them on ccMixter.org. I recorded a podcast Friction Fiction for two years – a guide to music and poetry on the web. I blog at iandsmith.com

I hold an MA in Creative Writing, Goldsmith’s University of London. I began writing fiction in 2001. Prior to that I wrote poetry with success in the small presses and the Yorkshire, Dulwich, Exeter and Berkshire Poetry competitions. I was a documentation consultant for fifteen years. My first degree is BSc Civil Engineering, Sheffield.

My first novel received great reviews on Authonomy.com.
